dear brother, if you are following ptcl, what is your assessment of ICH as court has to decide it.
ReplyDeleteYes I am following PTCL, along-with each and every KSE listed company. I have no idea as what impact, above scenario, would have on PTC stock price. I had posted my analysis earlier. Here is the link;
ReplyDeletehttp://pakistan-stocks.blogspot.com/2012/10/ptc-pakistan-telecommunication-analysis.html
and according to that PTC is no good for value investors. I would put its fair value at Rs 12.17. So a no, no from me, for me!
Don't you have a gmail/yahoo/skype where I could talk to you online sometimes?
ReplyDeleteYes sure! My gmail email address is rashid19672006+pakistanstocks@gmail.com! Lets use this and setup a meeting later.
ReplyDeletePresumably you are an analyst by profession, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteAn no, I am not (that is, no I am not a professional analyst)! By profession I am a software developer, and this helps be in writing software for myself, that helps in doing fundamental analysis on companies data. By the way did that put you off, that is, my not working as a analyst for a brokerage?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this site is for sharing my work with the visitors of this site, good friends like you yourself. I don't recommend any stocks for buying or selling (not anymore, that is). I leave that judgement to the readers. My aim is to value the price that a particular company share should be trading at, at a particular moment in time. If the value price is lower than the current price then I guess its good for investment. Whether the price will go up (or down) that I have no idea of. My strategy is to buy cheap stocks, that others are valuing at lower price than their true worth, and hold them for at least a year or longer.
How do you choose stocks for your investment?
Oh and by the way! Here is what BMA has to say about something you were interested in;
ReplyDeleteICH in the bin – What now?
* PTA, in a notification issued yesterday has dissolved ICH, established on the directives of MoIT. The notification will be submitted before the Lahore High Court today in this regard
* Recall, this arrangement was to lead all the international calls to converge at a single technical exchange/gateway, as against being handled by 14 different licensees and that too at USc 8.8/min
* According to sources, LDI operators all over the country may form a price consensus strategy fixing the rates on international calls close to ICH levels
* If this happens, it will bode well for the companies as they will keep on earning higher revenues
* Having said, application of the strategy would require a strong consensus amongst local LDI operators regarding the fixation of market shares and international call rates without any authority supervising them
* We revise our TP downwards by 28% to PKR21/sh bringing down our valuations to pre-ICH levels. Still, the scrip offers an upside of 17% from current trading levels advocating a BUY
I stumbled upon your blog by chance and I found it really very helpful, likewise, I started reading it on daily basis and though I don't really understand the technicalities yet, as I am just a student who invested in KSE a few months ago on a teacher's recommendation, got quite a bit of profit which helped me insist my father to invest as well.
ReplyDeleteHow do I invest? Well, I usually look for the companies having good fundamentals for long term investment and for short term investment/trading I follow the trend. For instance Cement and Textile sector provided a lot of gain lately. Having said this, I still feel the need to seek an expert advice but an expert advice is hard to come by, usually people talks about hearsay and that's all.
You are doing a great job by putting up all this data here, people like me really appreciate your efforts for it helps taking a good investment decision.
Just one bit of advice, a cautious one! I don't know how long you have been investing in stocks, if you have been into stocks since pre-CGT era, then you would know that stocks prices tumble too, and when they do that, you total investment value goes down dramatically. So keep the seat belt on, you never know what is to follow next.
ReplyDeleteI do not take analysis into account while investing, therefore, no trading for me, only investment, long term. I am a contrarian investor. I'll be happy to provide you with any advice I am capable of providing, but you'll find it a bit hard to accept. Stay with me long enough and the trust will build. That's all I can say.
By expert advice, I presume, someone working as an analyst with a brokerage house, with a degree in accounting or maybe MBA? Well your brokerage house provides (at least should) provide you with their analysis reports and you can call in for their recommendations. But do you think people really trust them (their advice)?
Oh and lots of thanks for your kind words of encouragement. Those meant a lot to me. Keep visiting, you are more than welcome!
Thanks for the advice, duly noted the point.
ReplyDeleteBrokerage houses does recommend different scrips but what I have noticed is, people tend to buy on those calls and mostly book losses and then curse their brokers.
By the way have you done any analysis on Fectc and Cyan? If yes, then what's your say on both these scrips as both these scrips looks really attractive to me at current prices.
Brokerage houses are bound to find company stocks that might make quick profits for their customers. They want to please their customers, reports readers, "now" and that is where the risk lies. In short time durations, markets are highly volatile, they can easily tip in either direction. But, in long term, things look good. But for that patience is a requirement, which many traders don't want to reap. So the problem.
ReplyDeleteYes I had looked at Fecto Cement's fundamental data and had posted my analysis here;
http://pakistan-stocks.blogspot.com/2012/11/fectc-fecto-cement-limited-analysis.html
I had concluded that FECTC's fair value price should be Rs 27.98, while its currently trading at -15.29% to that, that is, at Rs 33.03. So I am not very optimistic about the company myself. It may go up, its upto how the FECTC investors see the company. But I am not going to put my money in the stock.
Regarding CYAN, I just did my analysis, and posted it here;
http://pakistan-stocks.blogspot.com/2012/12/cyan-cyan-limited-analysis-10122012.html
And the conclusion is.........Yes, by all means, yes, I would like to have some CYAN in my portfolio. Current price is Rs 52.67. I would say it is good till Rs 143.70, which gives an upside potential of 172.83%. Its undervalued, at the moment. Would it be a gold mine? That, I don't know, because it is nearly impossible to predict future. What I know for sure is, which those fundamentals, and at that price, its cheap to buy. So good luck, to both of us. So are you already into CYAN or planning a fresh entry?
Patience, so right, one just cannot succeed in stock market if he's not patient enough. Reminds me of PPL which is really testing my nerves.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about Fectc, it's one of the weaker manufacturers of cement in Pakistan, yet, after reading different analysis and articles I am very hopeful that it go up to 45rs/sh and for a short term investment it wouldn't be a bad outcome. By short term I mean 2 to 4 months period.
I have taken a position in Cyan even though my broker wasn't really letting me do so, according to him I should avoid any fresh buying due to the political uncertainties in the country, plus he feels that technical correction is on the charts now but I have bought it anyways! It could be a goldmine as per said by you, j/k.
Have you invested in Stock Market yourself? How do you manage a blog of such MAGNITUDE, must be hard?
I am not too enthusiastic about PPL myself, well that's what data tells me. But as I said earlier, stocks prediction is not my game. I have sold my holding of PPL, only a few are left, which I will shortly.
ReplyDeleteTo me, FECTC seems fair at Rs 27.98, currently it is trading at Rs 32.40, so I don't see any justification in investing in it, that is for myself. It maybe the case that investor enthusiasm might take it higher still, you never know. But its not a company Benjamin Graham would recommend, I am sure.
I don't trust charts and technical analysis. But have bad reputation with people of repute, people who know what stock investment is, academics, researchers. Read the book "A Random Walk Down the Wall Street" and you will know why my trust on technical analysis is so weak. Just to be on the safe side, I am not recommending CYAN to anyone but me. It seems healthy financially, undervalued at current price, so I will try to buy it for myself. That is all I can say with safety. I may go down, you never know. But if you are sure that you bought a company cheap, there are no regrets till it sinks way far below its fair value.
Yes all the research I post here, I do for myself. Since the work has already been done so I share with with readers of this site, they may find it useful. And yes its quiet a lot of work. Sometimes even I question myself, the worth of all this trouble, why do it, but so far I am going along with it.
