Sui gas twins’ asset revaluation likely

The Privatisation Commission Monday directed Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to revalue their assets and assess up-gradation requirements. It was decided in a meeting chaired by Shahab Khawaja Federal Secretary Ministry of Privatisation here.
According to details the directives have been issued so that the value addition measures could be taken prior to privatisation proceeds. Khawaja said that the government intended to increase the profitability of both entities to safeguard the interests of consumers and investors alike.
It would be done by increasing their capacities after addressing the issues at hand, he added. The representatives of SNGPL and SSGC delivered presentations regarding their performance and ongoing projects while the officials of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), Ministries of Petroleum, Natural Resources, Finance and PC also attended the meeting.

Wateen telco goes public from 13th

Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has approved the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Wateen Telecom Limited and fixed April 13, 14 and 15 as dates for subscription of shares.
The IPO is the largest one through which the company will get Rs2 billion from the country's stock market thus expanding its paid up capital which has been approved by its sponsor directors.
Wateen Telecom Limited after getting itself listed at the KSE would be offering its 110 million shares to raise capital by Rs1.1 billion with a greenshoe option of 90 million shares at the face value of Rs10 per share through an IPO to general public and institutional investors.
The company's sponsor, Abu Dhabi Group, which is the largest foreign investor in Pakistan, has already approved this strategic decision. Company has posted a profit after tax of Rs1.018 million by the end of fiscal year 2008-2009, which translates into an earning per share of Rs 4.88.

Bidding for Shell Gas shareholding

Shell Petroleum Company has received indicative offers from a group of
interested parties for the purchase of its shareholding in Shell Gas LPG
Pakistan. According to a letter to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Friday,
Shell has short listed few bidders and is in process of inviting them to
participate in the next stage of the sale process which lead to the
submission of their
final offers.

SNGPL, SSGC sell-off to get PC reappraisal


The government has decided to review the privatisation process of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). In this regard Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan Federal Minister for Privatisation will chair a high level meeting at Privatisation Commission Secretariat here tomorrow (Monday).
The managing directors of both the companies will deliver presentations regarding the steps taken to improve the companies. The measures taken to add value to these entities prior to pushing the transactions ahead to the market will also be highlighted in the meeting.  Moreover the sitting will also discuss various modes of privatisation process.
